Ludowici

What are the adverse effects of measels if untreated? What are the public health implications of having measels? What are the adverse effects of mononucleosis if untreated? What are the public health implications of having mononucleosis? What are the adverse effects of Lyme disease if untreated? What is the testing for Lyme disease?

a) U Might develop pneumonia, but generally speaking, nearly everyone recovers fine w/ rest & OTC preparations for symptoms relief. b) You're (very) contagious."Yawn!"You're 'unkissable'. :(~a)Quite serious. Involvement of most body systems. Death as a direct consequence of the disease is rare but can happen (i. e: from cardiac problems assoc. w/ possible heart inflammation).b)Typically, the ELISA & Western blots (which test for the presence of human anti-bodies generated in response to the borrelia PIECES that result when the spirochete dies or gets lysed). This test is unfortunately only about 50% accurate. Also, a blood/serum test for Borrelia Burgderfori (Lyme) DNA exists but a "false negative" result is common, esp. w/ limited samples. Other tests are in research or developmental stages (at the Columbia University Tick-borne Diseases Research Center & elsewhere) but not widely available... yet.
