The veins are conduits for the circulation of blood in one direction: toward the heart. To fulfill this function, those that are located in the legs have valves that open inside stop allowing fluid flow upward, and close to prevent it from returning.
Varicose veins form when the valves do not close properly, allowing blood stasis and increased pressure within affected veins, so that its walls stretch to such an extent that protrude from the skin.
This condition occurs when the veins of the legs are weak or thin, due to poor blood circulation. As the problem progresses, the veins bulging appearance acquire. The specialists called peripheral vascular disease.
At this point, recall that the arteries carry blood from the heart to the legs and veins are long tubes that return the fluid to that organ. For many reasons, these cavities may obstruct progressively, causing hindrance to the bloodstream and move very slowly toward its goal (heart), which, in turn, can eventually lead to thrombosis (obstruction), color change skin, pulmonary infarction (tissue death from lack of nutrients) and ulcers (infected cells).
Also, symptoms such as pain, heaviness or excessive heat in the legs, fatigue, cramping, swelling and bruising only put pressure on the skin are signs of venous disease in question.
