My cat just got diagnosed with it also. It is when microscopic parasites enter your cats body (from fleas, ticks, other cats) and attach themselves to the red blood cells. The cat's body (when it figures this out) attacks the red blood cells making the cat anemic. The vet should have given you antibiotics for your cat to try and kill enough parasites that your cat's body stops destroying it's own red blood cells. If your cat survives he/she will be a carrier of the parasite and whenever your cat gets stressed it can get anemic again and need treatment again. From what I've read the cat will always have it and has to be watched or given periodic blood tests to see if it has come back (if the parasite is not under control).

I believe it's treatable if caught early enough. http://www. peteducation. com/article. cfm?…Best of luck.
