Europe remains in the wilderness as medical marijuana is not an option for the foreseeable future

With a twist of Irony, The USA arguable the most oppressive of regimes for freedom of healthcare choice is leading the way in the medical marijuana debate.

It is true that probably this sudden surge of interest in passing bills in consecutive states to allow individuals and co –ops alike to grow marijuana is largely due to the revenue the individual states will receive from issuing licences. Alaska,  Arizona,  California,  Colorado  Delaware,  District of Columbia,  Hawaii,  Maine,  Maryland,  Michigan,  Montana,  Nevada,  New Jersey,  New Mexico,  Oregon,  Rhode Island,  Vermont  & Washington are all active states in the medical marijuana program. Other are debating the finer points of any bill to be put before the senate but have decriminalized possession in small quantities.

So why is Europe so fearful of introducing Medical Marijuana to the healthcare system, the argument that more research is necessary must surely by now be redundant.

For almost 5000 years, Marijuana has been used medically by indigenous populations for a variety of ailments. First discovered by Professor Raphael Mechoulam of Hebrew University in Jerusalem in 1964, the extract Tetrahydrocannabinol or THC has unequivocally been proven through many studies, texts and research to kill cancer cells, prevent nausea after chemo and has an extremely high success rate for autoimmune disorders. Sadly as with all forward thinking research papers that threaten the status quo, the results are often buried, ignored or hidden in an annex government website that is related to healthcare research, often taxing the most ardent and determined investigative researcher.
