Osteopathy and Back Pain

Back pain is a general term used to identify pain felt in the back, from your neck and across the shoulders to the bottom of your rib cage. This is sometimes referred to as thoracic spine and extends to your shoulder blades, where the rib cage is connected to the chest area. This kind of pain may be associated with a feeling of pins-and-needles or numbness that may extend to your fingers. This may also causes headaches, migraines, chest pains, reflux and shortness of breath.

There are various causes of pain. The most common causes of mild to severe upper pains includes abrupt movements during sporting activities, lifting or posture. Ironically, a sedentary lifestyle can also be a cause of upper back pain. As a matter of fact, those with desk-bound jobs, or those whose jobs do not require lots of movement and just seated to one position are more prone to severe pains in any part of the body particularly at the back.
