Unless you are in medical school you should not be too concerned on a specialty yet because you may change your mind. Part of medical school is rotating through different specialties where you will get a feel for the job and can then make an informed decision on a specialty. In order to become an infectious disease specialist you will need to complete an internal medicine residency so you will also be an internist and then will need to complete an ID fellowship. If you wanted to have another specialty you would need to complete another fellowship. That is alot of additional training and it would be impractical because you would not be able to devote enough time to either of those specialties.

How about Cancer? You may wish to brush up a little on your spelling however.
