What Really Are Toxins?

Toxins, they're in food, the air, the microwave and even on your kitchen countertop. It seems like there are very few places where these nightmarish, cancer inducing particles can't be found and the media just loves to talk about them. Unfortunately, they are too busy stirring up fear to educate you and what these toxins actually are and how you can combat them. If you've read any of my other posts you'll know that detoxing is the method of choice for removing toxins, but you might still be unsure as to what toxins are.

Webster's dictionary defines a toxin as, "a poisonous substance that is a specific product of the metabolic activities of a living organism and is usually very unstable, notably toxic when introduced into the tissues, and typically capable of inducing antibody formation". What this is basically saying is that a toxin is any NATURAL substance that is capable of causing harm. I've emphasized natural because under this definition infamous artificial substances such as Aspartame, Sucralose and Saccharin are excluded. Yes, artificial substances, even if proven to kill you are not toxins. This begs the question, "So what are toxins?".

The pressure in your sinus, due to congestion, can cause discomfort and pain. If you want to learn how to relieve sinus pressure, here are some of the most effective and natural ways to do so.

One way to learn how to relieve sinus pressure is to make sure that you are keeping your body hydrated. Make sure to drink high amount of water regularly. Sufficient amount of water in the body can help drain the mucus and relieve congestion, thus relieving pressure. You can also consume hot soups to get rid of the mucus buildup.

Steam inhalation is another effective relief against pressure in the sinuses. You can do this method at least twice a day by going through a warm shower bath or directly inhaling the steam. Instead of having plain steam, make sure that you add essential oils to the hot water to relieve congestion quickly.

Eating spicy foods can be very helpful as well. Spicy foods contain capsaicin, which is helpful in increasing secretions, thus promoting proper drainage in your nasal passages.

Another way to learn how to relieve sinus pressure is to learn of the body's pressure points and apply pressure to it. Applying pressure to these points can help push mucus buildup out of the sinus cavity and provide relief from pressure.

If you can learn how to use a neti pot then you will learn how to relieve the pressure. Neti pots are especially made for flushing out the nasal passages and getting rid of the mucus buildup. However, you have to make sure that you use the neti pot with an effective solution. One solution that you can opt for is a mixture of baking soda and salt.

Getting enough rest and sleep can also help you relieve this pressure build-up. When you sleep, make sure that you keep your head elevated to reduce congestion.

Another way to learn how to relieve sinus pressure is to go through acupuncture treatment. This is known to be very effective against sinus related pressure and other sinus problems.

These are some of the most effective ways of learning how to relieve sinus pressure. However, take note that some remedies may be more effective than some people but do not be disheartened. You can try all these remedies until you find the one that can actually provide you with relief.
